Baramunda Bus Terminal in Bhubaneswar to be Named After BR Ambedkar: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: The Baramunda Interstate Bus Terminal in Odisha’s capital is set to be named after BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced that the recently constructed terminal will now be referred to as the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal.

The state government plans to establish a dedicated gallery at the Baramunda bus terminal, showcasing Ambedkar’s significant contributions to the nation. This gallery will illustrate the life and achievements of Ambedkar, serving as an informative space for visitors.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in making the announcement, highlighted BR Ambedkar’s role as an eminent social reformer who devoted his life to fostering an equitable society. Describing Ambedkar as a beacon of hope for Dalit communities, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of honouring his legacy.

Spanning approximately 15 acres, the newly constructed bus terminal at Baramunda has the capacity to accommodate a daily influx of at least 30,000 passengers. It is equipped with modern facilities to enhance the overall experience for travellers. The decision to name the terminal after BR Ambedkar reflects a recognition of his enduring impact on Indian society.
