New Delhi: As a mark of tribute to former India captain MS Dhoni, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to retire the No. 7 jersey, which was synonymous with Dhoni.
Sachin Tendulkar’s No. 10 shirt was already retired by the BCCI. Recently the Indian Board decided to add Dhoni’s No. 7 shirt to the list as well to honour the contributions of the wicket-keeper batter to the Indian team.
It means no player in the Indian team will wear No. 7 on his back while donning the Indian jersey, just like no one is allowed to pick the No. 10 shirt, earlier worn by Tendulkar.
