Cash-For-Query Case: TMC MP Mahua Moitra Comes to Hearing Holding 3 Handbags

New Delhi: TMC MP Mahua Moitra appeared before the parliamentary ethics committee in the alleged cash-for-query case with three handbags.

She has denied the allegations against her but admitted to sharing parliamentary login details with businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

Moitra is well known for carrying luxury handbags.

The parliamentary ethics committee is probing BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey’s bribe-for-query allegations against the TMC MP. Dubey has alleged that Moitra asked questions in parliament on behalf of businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for bribes and favors.

The TMC MP Moitra faces accusations of conspiracy, serious breach of privilege, and contempt of the House. On Wednesday, she said, the ethics committee may not be the most appropriate venue for investigating allegations of criminality, given its lack of authority to do so.

In a letter written to the ethics committee, which she posted on X, Moitra asked for permission to cross-examine Hiranandani.
