TMC Leader Mahua Moitra Skips 3rd RD Summons To Campaign in Bengal’s Krishnanagar

Kolkata: Leader of the TMC Mahua Moitra will skip summons issued by ED on Thursday and will campaign in West Bengal’s Krishnanagar instead.

The ED has summoned her for interrogation in connection with a foreign exchange violation case. The Ed sent its third summons to the TMC leader on Wednesday after she skipped the first two.

“I will be out for campaigning in the Krishnangar constituency in the afternoon,” she told reporters.

The ED wants to question her over transactions linked to a non-resident external, or NRE, account. Moitra was was expelled from Lok Sabha last year over cash-for-query allegations. She was accused of receiving “luxury gifts” and Rs 2 crore in cash from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to ask questions critical of the government in Parliament.

On Saturday, her home in Kolkata was searched by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the cash-for-query case.
