Char Dham Yatra Suspended in Uttarakhand As MeT Office Issues Red Alert for Rains

Dehradun: Following the red alert for heavy rains issued in the state, the Uttarakhand government suspended Char Dham Yatra on August 14 and 15.

Because of heavy rains major rivers and their streams have inundated and blocked national highways connecting holy shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Gangotri.

The rivers Ganga, Mandakini, and Alaknanda flowed above the danger mark in Rudraprayag, Devprayag and Shrinagar.

Landslides have blocked several roads in the state. , including national highways.

Around 1,169 houses and a large amount of agricultural land have also been damaged.

Uttarakhand has suffered by the continuous monsoon rain, which has caused at least 60 deaths and 17 people are missing.
