Check Out India’s Chandrayaan Story, Effort to Reach Moon

New Delhi: At 2.35 pm on Thursday, India’s Chandrayaan-3 will lift off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh with the hopes and aspirations of the whole country. The success of this mission will make India the fourth nation to make a soft landing on the moon.

* Chandrayaan-1, India’s first lunar was launched in October 2008 and it remained operational till August 2009.

*Chandrayaan-2, the second mission in the series launched in 2019 faced a misfortune. The lander of Chandrayaan-2 deviated from the planned trajectory and suffered a hand landing. But its orbiter still sends data about the moon’s surface.

*The moon lander Vikram of Chandrayaan-3 will lift off from earth by a GSLV Mark 3 heavy-lift launch vehicle, popularly known as the Bahubali rocket. This 43.5 meters tall rocket is half as high as Delhi’s Qutb Minar. *The journey of Chandrayaan-3 to the moon will take over 40 days.

*The Lander of the mission is expected to touch down on the moon on August 23.

*After having a safe, soft landing, the Vikram lander will release the Pragyan rover, which will roam the moon’s surface for a lunar day, which is equal to 14 earth days and conduct scientific experiments.

*Through this rover, scientists will analyze the lunar soil, study the lunar surface, and will also document moon quakes.
