Child Swapping Alleged at Capital Hospital, Probe Ordered

Bhubaneswar: A serious allegation of child swapping at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar was brought up by Pranakrushna Parija, a man from Rajkanika, on Tuesday.

Pranakrushna alleged that his family was informed that his wife delivered a male at around 10:30 pm on Monday. Later they found that it was a girl child, he alleged.

He and his family members demanded a DNA test to ascertain the real identity of the child provided to them. He also refused to take the child till he got the DNA report.

Reacting to this allegation of child swapping, Capital Hospital Director, Laxmidhar Sahu informed that although the complainant’s wife delivered a girl child, the attendant through slip of tongue had declared it was a baby boy.

But to remove all doubts, the Director of Capital Hospital has set up a committee to enquire.

As a last resort, the case may be handed over to the police and steps will be initiated for a DNA test to ascertain the biological parents of the child.
