Chinese Fraudster Steals Rs 1400 Cr from 1200 People in 9 Days Through fake Betting App

Ahmedabad: A Chinese man with the support of some partners in Gujarat has allegedly cheated Rs 1400 crore from around 1200 persons in only nine days through a fake football betting app. Gujarat police have recently uncovered this racket.

According to reports, the kingpin behind this cheating is a Chinese national named Woo Uyanbe, hailing from the Shenzhen region.

During his stay in Gujarat between 2020 and 2022, the Chinese cheat operated his fraud from Patan and Banaskantha districts.

Gujarat Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. It was found that the cheats were conning victims in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh through a mobile application named ‘Dani Data’.

The app lured individuals interested in football to place bets and promised high returns. Through this app Uyanbe managed to siphon off an average of Rs 200 crore per day.

The app abruptly stopped functioning after only nine days. By the time the cheated individuals approached police, Uyanbe had left India. The Gujarat police filed the first case related to the fraud in August 2022.

The CID discovered that these collaborators of Uyanbe had established shell companies to facilitate the transfer of stolen money.
