Delhi HC Extends NewsClick Founders Judicial Custody Till Oct 25

New Delhi: The judicial custody of NewsClick’s founder and Editor-in-Chief, Prabir Purkayastha, and its Human Resources (HR) Head, Amit Chakraborty was extended till October 25 by the Delhi High Court on Friday.

Their last 10 days of judicial custody expired on Friday.

Delhi Police Special Cell arrested them under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) UAPA Act and the IPC. Both were accused of receiving foreign funds from China to disrupt India’s sovereignty and cause disaffection against the country.

Both have challenged the Delhi High Court order in the Supreme Court.
