Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly Rajanikant Singh Resigns

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA and Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Rajanikant Singh resigned from his post on Wednesday. This four-time MLA has been the Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Assembly since June 2019.

He handed over his resignation letter to Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Speaker Pramila Mallik in which he cited personal reasons for his decision.

It is speculated that the four-time Angul MLA may be used by the BJD party for some crucial organizational work ahead of the elections in 2024.

“The Deputy Speaker post is a constitutional one, for which I was unable to participate in party activities. I tendered resignation in view of the upcoming elections as it will enable me to strengthen party’s organization and reach out to the people,” said Singh.
