DIG Rajesh Pandit Suspended for ‘Grave Misconduct’ Towards Lady Inspector

Bhubaneswar: A senior IPS officer of DIG rank of Odisha Police Rajesh Pandit was suspended for his alleged misbehaviour towards a lady inspector in Capital Police Station area of Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, the DIG had allegedly entered the house of the lady inspector and misbehaved with her.

Pandit was posted as DIG of Fire Services & Home Guards.

The official notification of his suspension stated, “…A disciplinary proceeding against Shri Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, IPS is contemplated on the grounds of grave misconduct as a Member of the Indian Police Service. Now, therefore, the Government of Odisha, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, hereby places the said Shri Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, IPS under suspension with immediate effect.”

During the period of suspension, he will be at the State Police Headquarters and ‘shall not leave the said headquarters without obtaining the permission of the DG of Police, Odisha, Cuttack’.

As per the allegations, on July 27, Rajesh Pandit forcibly entered the house (under the jurisdiction of Capital Police Station) of a married lady inspector of Odisha Police serving in the Bhubaneswar Economic Offences Wing of the Odisha Crime Branch and misbehaved with her. The senior IPS officer had allegedly trespassed into the government quarters of a lady inspector and created a scene by beating up the spouse of the woman police officer.
