Drunk Man Kills Wife, Minor Son in Bhadrak District

Bhadrak: An inebriated man allegedly strangled his wife and minor son to death while they were sleeping at his home in the Kusagadia area under Bhandaripokhari police station limits in Bhadrak district on Sunday night.

According to reports, Umesh Nayak hailing from the Bant area was staying with his family in a rented house at Kusagadia. He works as a driver.

It is alleged that Umesh in a drunken state strangled his wife Kanchanbala and son on Sunday night.

The accused made attempts to make these murders look like suicide as a saree was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home.

Police arrested the accused, who reportedly absconded after committing the murders. According to neighbours, Umesh was a habitual drunkard and was regularly assaulting his wife and son in inebriated state.

On receiving information, Bhandaripokhari police reached the spot and seized the bodies for post-mortem.
