New Delhi: Eleven leaders are all set to get elected to the Rajya Sabha uncontested. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O’Brien are among these 11 set to enter the upper house without facing elections.
Six TMC and five BJP candidates will be elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha.
As per the schedule, voting for Rajya Sabha seats was to be held on July 24. But there will be no voting for six seats in West Bengal, three in Gujarat and one seat in Goa.
Now the ruling BJP will have 93 members in Rajya Sabha, where the government does not have a majority.
