ECI Issues Notification for 1st Phase Polls in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi: The notification for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls was issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday.

Following the notification, the process for the filing of nomination has started. In the first phase, polling will be held in 24 Assembly constituencies including Pulwama, Kulgam, Ramban, Doda and Shopian in the Union Territory.

The last date for filing nomination for this phase is August 27 and the scrutiny of nomination will take place on August 28.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination is August 30.

The polling will be held on September 18, the notification stated. The voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm.

The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will held in three phases with first phase voting on 18 September, second phase on 25th September and third phase on 1st October.

The counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir will be on October 4.

This is the first Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
