ED Files Fresh Complaint Against Arvind Kejriwal for Skipping Summons

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has lodged a new complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for repeatedly failing to appear before the agency in a money laundering investigation. The complaint pertains to Kejriwal’s non-compliance with summonses numbered 4 to 8. The matter is scheduled for a hearing before the court of ACMM Divya Malhotra on Thursday.

Previously, the ED had sought Kejriwal’s prosecution for disregarding the first three summonses related to the investigation into money laundering associated with Delhi’s liquor policy. The court has set March 16 for the hearing of this case.

Kejriwal has denounced all eight summonses as “illegal” and proposed to be questioned via video conferencing after March 12.

The fresh complaint by the ED invokes section 174 IPC (non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant) along with section 63(4) of the PMLA, which deals with intentional disobedience of directives, among other relevant sections of the law.
