Entire Sri Lanka Cricket Board Sacked Over Humiliating Defeat Against India

The entire cricket board of Sri Lanka was sacked by Sri Lanka’s sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe on Monday. This is seen as an aftermath of the humiliating defeat against India at the World Cup.

The country’s 1996 World Cup-winning captain, Arjuna Ranatunga has been appointed chairman of a new interim Sri Lanka cricket board, stated the office of the sports minister. The new seven-member interim-panel includes a retired supreme court judge and a former board president.

Two days back, board’s secretary Mohan de Silva had quit. Ranasinghe publicly demanded the entire board’s resignations after Sri Lanka’s 302-run World Cup thrashing by hosts India last week saying that Sri Lanka Cricket officials had no moral or ethical right to remain in office.
