FIR Against VK Pandian Over Alleged Kickbacks, Misappropriation of Funds

Bhubaneswar: Former bureaucrat turned politician, VK Pandian, has found himself embroiled in a new controversy just as the dust was settling on the helicopter expenses issue. Advocate Sudhir Charan Mohanty filed an FIR at the Capital Police station, accusing Pandian of financial misappropriation, laundering black money, and accepting kickbacks from mining and oil companies.

In his complaint, Mohanty claimed that Pandian’s extensive state tours, involving helicopters and chartered flights, were funded by external sources, including contractors and mafias from outside Odisha, rather than the state exchequer. He alleged that significant amounts of money were spent on organising large public meetings during these tours, without any transparency or official sanction from the government.

Mohanty further alleged that Tamil contractors and mafias who benefited from Pandian’s actions were the ones financing these programmes, contributing to the looting of Odisha’s resources. He demanded a thorough investigation into the source of the funds, the amount spent, and the identities of those involved in the alleged corruption. Mohanty also called for legal action against Pandian, former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and all district collectors involved in coordinating the programmes without proper budgetary approval.
