Former Karnataka CM Jagdish Shettar Rejoins BJP Quitting Congress

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka CM Jagdish Shettar, rejoined the BJP on Thursday. He had left the BJP to join the Congress ahead of the Karnataka assembly polls in 2023.

After rejoining the saffron party, the Lingayat leader Shettar said his relations with the BJP was quite strong and many of his well-wishers wanted him to join back the party.

Shettar joined the BJP in the presence of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa, Union ministers Bhupender Yadav and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra.

Shettar had earlier met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP’s national president JP Nadda. Shettar had left the BJP when he was denied a ticket to contest the assembly polls. Although he contested on the Congress ticket, he lost the polls. He was made a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) by the Congress. Shettar has now quit it to join the BJP.
