Rising star Gill exploded onto the ODI scene in 2023. His batting prowess shone through as he amassed a staggering 1584 runs – the only player to breach the 1500-run mark that year. Five magnificent centuries, a breathtaking 208 his highest score, and an impressive average of 68.91 cemented his position as India’s top ODI run-scorer and earned him widespread recognition.
Kohli, returning to his mesmerizing form, was unstoppable during the World Cup. He shattered records with a phenomenal 765 runs across 11 innings, boasting an unmatched average of 95.62 and a healthy strike rate of 90.3. His three centuries and six half-centuries, including a match-winning ton against New Zealand in the semi-final that surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI century record, earned him the player of the tournament title. Overall, Kohli finished second in the 2023 ODI run-scorer list with 1377 runs.
Shami, India’s pace bowling spearhead, spearheaded the attack during the World Cup, grabbing 24 wickets in just seven matches. Throughout the year, he claimed a commendable 43 wickets in 19 matches, proving his dominance as a potent fast bowler.
