Girl Drowns as She & Her Mother Jump Into Pond to Escape Monkey Attack

Dhenkanal: A girl drowned when she and her mother jumped into a pond to escape a monkey attack at Palachakada village under Rasola police station in Dhenkanal district of Odisha on Saturday morning.

The deceased Sumitra Sara and her mother were on their way to the village pond to have their bath, when they were attacked by monkeys.

The scared duo jumped into the deep waters of the pond. Locals rescued them. But by that time Sumitra was already dead. But her mother could be rescued alive.

In a similar incident, a 5-year-old girl reportedly died while attending her grandmother’s funeral rituals at Nuhamalia village of Keonjhar district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ishani Munda, the daughter of Manoj Munda. She drowned while having a bath in the village pond for the shraddha rituals.
