Girl Student of Odisha Central University Found Hanging In Hostel Room

Koraput: A girl student of the Mathematics department identified as Sandhyarani Das was found hanging inside a hostel room of the Central University of Odisha at Sunabeda in the Koraput district.

The deceased was a first-year student of the Mathematics Department hailing from the Kendrapara district.

According to other hostel inmates, Sandhyarani spent time with her classmates at the hostel on Friday night and went to her room to sleep at around 1 am.

On Saturday morning, she did not answer anyone’s call, her friends reached her room. When there was no response from inside even after repeated knocks, they informed the hostel superintendent and varsity authorities.

After being informed by the university authorities, personnel of the Sunabeda police station reached the hostel and broke open the door of the hostel room. Sandhyarani was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the room.

The reason behind her suspected suicide is being investigated.
