Gopal Das Appears Before Jharsuguda Court in Naba Das Murder Case

Jharsuguda: Former police ASI Gopal Das, who is the prime accused in the broad daylight murder of former health minister of Odisha, Naba Kishore Das, appeared before the JMFC court in Jharsuguda for hearing, on Thursday.

State Crime Branch personnel transported the accused to the Jharsuguda court from the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack. Crime Branch is investigating the assassination of the former minister. Gopal Das was first at the Jharsuguda OSAP Battalion and was taken to the JMFC Court at District Court Complex in Jharsuguda amid tight security.

As per unconfirmed reports, the JMFC Court transferred the case to District & Sessions Judge Court, Jharsuguda.

The Crime Branch had submitted the 543-page preliminary chargesheet in Jharsuguda JMFC Court in Naba Das murder case, on May 26. Statements of 89 witnesses, reports of scientific team were included in this chargesheet against dismissed police ASI accused Gopal Krushna Das.

Naba Das was shot dead by Gopal Das on January 29, 2023, while he was coming out of his car to attend a public meeting at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda.

Gopal Das used his service revolver to fire at the minister from close range. Naba Das was declared dead at Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar later in the evening.
