Gurugram Cafe Manager Arrested for Serving “Dry Ice” That Made Customers Vomit Blood

New Delhi: The manager of a restaurant in Haryana’s Gurugram was arrested for causing physical harm to five customers by serving them dry ice as mouth freshener.

Video clips of five customers vomiting blood after consuming dry ice served as “mouth freshener” made rounds on the social media. All five of them were admitted to the hospital. Two of them are in a critical condition.

Initial police investigation revealed that they were served dry ice as mouth freshener at Laforestta Café of Gurugram.

Dry ice is solidified carbon dioxide and if consumed it can lead to cold burns and asphyxiation.

Police have registered a case against the staff and the restaurant owner and its manager has been arrested.

The injured customers told police that they first felt a burning sensation in their mouths when they chewed the ‘mouth freshener’ served by the café. After that they started vomiting blood. Rinsing of their mouths with water also didn’t help.

Later it was found that the restaurant had given them packet of fry ice as ‘mouth freshener’.
