Holiday on Jan 17 in Odisha for Inauguration of Srimandir Parikrama Project

Bhubaneswar: January 17 was declared as a public holiday in Odisha by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the Srimandir Parikrama project in Puri.

All government offices, schools and colleges of the state will be closed on January 17.

The inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama project is meant to beautify the Sri Jagannath Temple and develop it as a major destination for Hindu devotees all over the world. This inauguration ceremony is being held with religious fervour and enthusiasm.

According to the Odisha government, this project is a mark of Odia pride. The state government has declared January 17 as a holiday to enable devotees from all over Odisha to participate in this Srimandir Parikrama Project inauguration ceremony and offer prayers to the Lord.
