IAF Hawk Trainer Aircraft Crashes Near West Bengal Airbase, Pilots Eject Safely

Kolkata: A Hawk trainer aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) met with an accident during a routine training exercise in Kalaikunda, West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district, as confirmed by a defence official.

Thankfully, both pilots successfully ejected from the aircraft and are safe. The incident occurred in a civilian area close to the Kalaikunda Air Force Station, between 4 pm and 5 pm, while the aircraft was returning from its training sortie.

Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties or damage to civilian property resulting from the crash. The Kalaikunda Air Force Station, primarily utilized for training purposes, served as the departure point for the ill-fated flight.

In response to the incident, a court of inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the accident and ensure necessary measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
