India Refutes Hand in Targeted Killings in Pakistan, Terms Report “False and Malicious Propaganda”

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs refuted the allegations of a foreign media report that India carried out targeted assassinations in Pakistan. India termed the allegation “false and malicious propaganda”.

The report in The Guardian quoted intelligence operatives in India and Pakistan to claim that India’s move was part of a wider strategy to eliminate terrorists living on foreign soil.

Reacting to the report, the Ministry of External Affairs told The Guardian that the allegations are “false and malicious anti-India propaganda”.

The ministry also added a previous statement by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in which he said that targeted killings in other countries were “not the policy of the government of India.”

According to The Guardian report, targeted assassinations increased significantly in 2023 in Pakistan. Pakistan’s intelligence accused India of involvement in the suspected deaths of about 15 people, most of whom were shot at close range by unknown gunmen, the report said.
