Jharsuguda Boat Capsize Death Toll Rises to 7 With Recovery of 5 More Bodies

Bhubaneswar: The number of deaths in the boat capsize incident in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district increased to seven with the recovery of five more bodies on Saturday.

Personnel of the OSRAF and fire services recovered five more bodies from the Hirakud reservoir of the Mahanadi river.

All deceased persons were identified as residents of the Kharseni area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

The ill-fated boat was carrying around 50 pilgrims from Chhattisgarh, who were returning after visiting a temple in Patharseni Kuda in Odisha’s Bargarh district.

The boat capsized at a small distance from the Sarada Ghat under the Rengali police station limits in Jharsuguda district on Friday afternoon.
