Couple Killed as Ambulance Hits Bike in Boudh Dist, Two Daughters Survive

Boudh: A couple died in Boudh district when an ambulance hit their bike from behind on the bridge over the river Mahanadi in Boudh district on Saturday.

But the two children of the couple, who were also with the couple, were saved.

Local police took the driver of the accident-causing ambulance, into custody for further investigation.

The deceased were identified as Mitu Behera and his wife Manorama from the Sadeipur area in the Boudh district.

According to locals, the couple along with their two daughters was travelling to Boudh from Athamallik to Boudh on a bike. They stopped on the bridge to show Mahanandi water to their daughters. While the children were looking at the river at the upper part of the bridge, the couple waited for them on the bike. At that time a speeding ambulance coming from Sambalpur side, hit them from the backside.

Mitu died on the spot. Manorama was taken to the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital in serious condition, where she died during treatment.
