Man Trampled to Death While Trying To Chase Away Wild Elephants in Jhasuguda Dist

Jharsuguda: A man was trampled to death by an elephant at Bhalupatra village under the Kirmira block in Jharsuguda district on Friday, while trying to drive away the pachyderm from agricultural fields.

The victim identified as Fakir Kisan (35) and other villagers were trying to chase away the elephant that had strayed into the field and was damaging standing crops.

According to sources, some forest department officials were also with the villagers trying to shoo away the stray elephant. All of a sudden the wild elephant retaliated and attacked the group. While escaping from the spot in a hurry, Fakir fell down and the wild elephant trampled him.

Critically injured Fakir was rushed to the Kirmira Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
