Raipur: Naxalites released an abducted police jawan after eight days in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
The released police jawan was Shankar Kudiyam (28), belonging to ‘Bastar Fighters’, a newly-raised unit of the Chhattisgarh state police.
This jawan was missing and on Thursday, Naxalites claimed that they had kidnapped him on September 29.
Kudiyam was released on Friday evening in the presence of members of Sarva Adivasi Samaj, and his relatives.
After his release, Kudiyam said, initially Maoists had decided to kill him, but later changed their mind following intervention by tribal organisations.
