Odisha Private Bus Owners Threaten Indefinite Strike from Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Odisha private bus owners’ association has given a call for an indefinite strike throughout the State from October 10 (Tuesday).

The association alleged that the state government has not taken any steps to hold discussions with the private bus owners. The private buses will remain off-road from 6 am on October 10.

The decision for this state-wide private bus strike was taken in a meeting of representatives of district private bus owners’ associations from across the State.

The private bus owners have decided to continue their strike till the state government fulfils their demands.

This strike by private bus owners is their mark of protest against the LAccMI scheme of the Odisha Government.

The LAccMi scheme aims to provide bus services between gram panchayats and block headquarters. It is being launched in undivided Koraput, Gajapati and Kalahandi districts in the first phase from October 2.

The government has planned to deploy two buses in each block under the LAccMI scheme.
