Odisha Proposes Second AIIMS in Sambalpur, Informs Health Min

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will facilitate the establishment of its second All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Sambalpur, announced state Health Minister Mukesh Mahalinga on Monday.

Mahalinga said, the Odisha government will soon hold discussions with the Central Government regarding setting up of AIIMS Sambalpur.

The minister added that the government plans to open new medical colleges in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Puri, and Jajpur, as well as nursing colleges in the state to meet the need of healthcare professionals in the state.

Mahalinga also announced efforts to reduce ambulance response times from 30 minutes to 20 minutes and the launch of free dialysis programs at 55 health centers across Odisha.

To enhance healthcare services at the grassroots level, Ayushmann Arogya Mandirs will be established in all gram panchayat headquarters. They will have yoga instructors and medical staff.

He informed that very soon 300 doctors and paramedical staff will be recruited to fill the current vacancies and the Odisha Health University will become fully operational.
