Odisha to Propose Inclusion of Mundari language in 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Thursday decided to recommend the proposal for the inclusion of the Mundari language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, state Chief Secretary P K Jena told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

This cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

This move is being seen as an effort to preserve and promote the Mundari language and culture.

The move will help open a new window for research and studies anchored around the preservation and promotion of the language.

The cabinet decision to recommend the inclusion of the Mundari language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution will have no financial implication.
