OpenAI, the mother company of ChatGPT on Friday removed its CEO Sam Altman stating that it no longer had confidence in his ability to lead the Microsoft-backed firm.
OpenAI’s board said in a statement that “The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.”
Following the board’s decision, Mira Murati, Chief Technology Officer at OpenAI, will assume the role of interim CEO.
The launch of ChatGPT ignited an AI race and major companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Meta entered the race.
Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI and has woven the company’s technology into its offerings, including search engine Bing.
