Pakistan’s National Assembly will be dissolved on August 9 to enable elections. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced this on Thursday after meeting the parliamentary leaders at a dinner, reported The Express Tribune.
On August 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will send formal request to the President for the dissolution of the National Assembly.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said he will consult with the Opposition and then submit the name of the caretaker prime minister to the President.
If there is no agreement on the name then the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will nominate a candidate for the caretaker prime minister post from the proposed names.
