19 Missing After Landslide on Kedarnath Yatra Route

New Delhi: Nearly 19 people were missing after heavy rains caused flashfloods and triggered a landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra route in Uttarakhand on Thursday night, reported India Today.

As per reports, several shops were also washed away near the Gaurikund.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have started rescue operations in the landslide region.

Heavy rains caused the landslide. As per initial reports, some devotees from Nepal are among the people missing in the landslide.

An orange alert for heavy rains on Friday was sounded in Pauri, Tehri, Rudraparayag and Dehradun of Uttarakhand.

A yellow alert was issued for Chamoli, Nainital, Champawat, Almora and Bageshwar.
