Plane With 303 Indians Grounded in France Over Suspected “Human Trafficking”

A Nicaragua-bound plane with 303 Indian passengers was grounded in France over suspected “human trafficking”. The plane that had lifted off from the UAE was detained in France following an anonymous tipoff.

France’s national anti-organised crime unit JUNALCO has taken over the investigation.

The detained plane is operated by Romanian company Legend Airlines, which has a fleet of four aircraft. It was grounded at Vatry airport in France following its landing on Thursday.

Legend Air has a small fleet of four aircraft, according to the Flightradar website.

The 303 Indian nationals in the plane are suspected to have earlier worked in the UAE. It is alleged that they were on their way to Central America to attempt illegal entry into the United States or Canada.

French police have taken two men into custody a day after the Nicaragua-bound plane carrying over 300 Indian passengers was grounded over suspected “human trafficking”. Indian authorities have also reached the spot to assess the situation.
