Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Greece on Friday. Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis received him at the Athens airport.
PM Modi arrived in Athens from South Africa where he attended the 15th BRICS Summit. He is in Greece at the invitation of Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The Prime Minister arrived at Hotel Grande Bretagne in the Greek capital and met the Indian diaspora gathered outside the hotel to greet him.
This day-long visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 40 years. The last high-level visit to Greece took place in September 1983 when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi travelled to the country.
Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Mitsotakis to discuss ways to further deepen the relationship. He is also expected to meet President Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The Indian community in Greece was excited to welcome PM Modi.
They chanted slogans like ‘Modi ji ki jai’ and danced to the tunes of Bollywood numbers “Chak de’ and ‘Jai Ho’.
