PM Modi Discusses Ukraine Visit and Bilateral Ties with President Putin

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and reviewing the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Ukraine.

PM Modi shared insights from his Ukraine trip and reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In a post on X, PM Modi highlighted his discussion with President Putin, highlighting efforts to strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. The leaders reviewed advancements on bilateral matters and explored strategies to deepen their strategic ties. They also exchanged views on various regional and global issues.

The dialogue included a focus on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, with PM Modi stressing the need for dialogue, diplomacy, and practical engagement to achieve a lasting resolution. Modi’s recent visit to Ukraine, where he discussed the conflict with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was a key point in the conversation.

In a joint statement, PMO noted that both leaders expressed a commitment to upholding international law and the UN Charter, signifying the importance of respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty. They agreed on the need for continued bilateral dialogue on these issues.

Earlier, in July, Prime Minister Modi had visited Russia for the 22nd India-Russia Bilateral Summit, further strengthening the strategic partnership with President Putin.
