PM Modi Extends Best Wishes to Indian Team Ahead of World Cup Final

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to the Indian cricket team ahead of the World Cup final against Australia. In a tweet from his official handle on Sunday, PM Modi expressed that the entire nation, with its 140 crore citizens, stands behind the ‘Men in Blue’ as they face the five-time world champions in this crucial match. He emphasized the hope for a fiercely competitive game led by captain Rohit Sharma while urging the team to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.

“Best of luck Team India! With 140 crore Indians cheering for you, may you shine bright, play well, and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship,” PM Modi conveyed on X.

India secured their spot in the final with a convincing 70-run victory over New Zealand. The explosive opening by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, followed by centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, set the stage for a formidable target. KL Rahul’s finishing touches propelled India to a commanding total of 397/4. Despite New Zealand’s attempt to control the chase, timely strikes by Mohammed Shami ensured India’s entry into the final.

In the second semi-final, South Africa challenged Australia by setting a modest target. However, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins and pace bowler Mitchell Starc held their nerves, securing a three-wicket win for the hosts. The stage is now set for an intense clash between India and Australia in the World Cup final.
