Possible Mishap Due to Faulty Clearance to 2 Planes Averted in Delhi Airport

New Delhi: A mishap involving two Vistara planes was averted at the Delhi airport on Wednesday morning. The air traffic controller making an error gave clearance for the crossing and take-off of two different aircraft on the same runway at the same time before canceling the take-off.

The concerned air traffic controller was de-rostered. The DGCA has decided to probe the incident.

This incident involved a plane that had landed at the Delhi airport from Ahmedabad and another plane that was to take off from Delhi to Bagdogra.

The aircraft from Ahmedabad landed on runway 29L and was instructed by the air traffic controller to cross runway 29R. At the same time, the controller also permitted the take-off of another Vistara plane VTI725 from runway 29R.

Realizing the error, the tower controller instructed VTI725 to cancel the take-off.
