Puri Immerses in Religious Fervor for Srimandir Parikrama Project Inauguration

Puri: Inhabitants of Puri as well as lakhs of devotees soaked in religious fervour in this holy city of Sri Jagannath for the inauguration of the long-awaited Puri Srimandir Parikrama Project on Wednesday.

After the ‘Purnahuti’ of the ritualistic Maha Yajna, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the project on the auspicious Pusha Shukla Sakthi Tithi between 1.15 pm and 1.30 pm.

Gajapati King of Puri, Dibyasingha Deb will offer the ‘Purnahuti’, which will mark the culmination of the three-day Maha Yajna that started on the Makar Sankranti day. The Purnahuti will be performed between 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm on Wednesday. The ‘Purnahuti’ will be followed by a ‘Nama Sankirtan’ and a procession.

According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the devotees will be allowed to go around the Parikrama Project after 3 pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Puri is under the tight security scanner of the police force.

Meanwhile, all major places in Puri have been decorated with flowers and glittering lights for the event. Lakhs of pilgrims have started arriving in the holy city for the grand ceremony and to have darshan of the deities on this auspicious occasion.
