Puri Sri Mandir’s Paschim Dwara Opened for Devotees

Puri: District administration of Puri opened the Paschima Dwara (Western Gate) of Shree Jagannath temple for devotees on Monday morning.

According to Puri Sub Collector, only the inhabitants of Puri will be allowed to enter the temple through the Paschima Dwara.

Before the imposition of restrictions after the outbreak of Covid-19, devotees were allowed to enter the AShree Jagannath temple through all four gates. During the pandemic, entry via three gates the temple stopped and devotees were allowed to enter the temple only through the Sighdwara or the Lions’ gate.

Recently an organization named Sachetana Nagarik Manch launched a signature campaign demanding the reopening of all four gates of Srimandir for the devotees.

Same demand came up from several other sections. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan also advocated the reopening of all four gates of the 12th-century shrine for devotees.

Noted sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, who is also a member of the temple managing committee, raised the demand for the opening of the western gate for local people.

Sources said the district administration has not taken any decision to open the remaining two gates.
