Rishi Sunak Declares Early Elections in Britain on July 4

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday declared a surprise early election on July 4. Rishi Sunak made the announcement from outside his Downing Street office.

Following the election date announcement, Rishi Sunak’s office said that Britain’s parliament will be suspended on Friday this week.

This early election announcement is seen as a high-risk move for Sunak’s Conservative party. As per reports, the mood of voters in Britain is now swinging towards the opposition Labour Party.

Apart from the Labour Party getting stronger, Sunak also faces the challenge of having control over his Conservative Party.

Rishi Sunak is UK’s fifth prime minister in eight years. He took oath in October 2022 following the resignation of Liz Truss, who was in PM’s post for only 44 days.

Both the Conservative Party and Labour will fight the coming election on economic and defense issues. Sunak’s government claims that Labour would raise taxes and mismanage the country. Labour alleges that the Conservatives’ rule of 14 years was full of economic mismanagement.
