Ruckus by Opposition, Odisha Assembly Adjourned till 4 pm

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm on Tuesday because of a ruckus by opposition BJP members over CM Naveen Patnaik’s statement on the floor of the house terming the opposition as ‘anti-people’.

When the Assembly started its proceedings, the BJP MLAs raised slogans against the CM’s remark against the opposition. The question hour was disrupted as the BJP MLAs reached the well of the House holding placards and shouting slogans. They demanded that the ‘anti-people’ term used in the CM’s statement in the House on Monday be expunged.

The BJP MLAs also protested against the suspension of their party chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi and MLA Mukesh Mahaling for the rest of the monsoon session of the Assembly. They wanted the withdrawal of the suspension order.

As noisy scene did not subside, Speaker Pramila Mallik adjourned the House till 4 pm.

Mohan Majhi and Mukesh Mahaling were suspended on Thursday from the Odisha Assembly for rest of the session for throwing pulses at the Speaker’s podium as a mark of protest.
