Special Janmashtami Rituals in Srimandir, Darshan of Deities to be Closed For 4 Hrs

Puri: Devotees will be barred from darshan of the deities at the Sri Jagannath temple in Puri for four hours from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm on Monday for the special rituals of Krishna Janmashtami.

The temple’s Mahajan servitors will lead the Janmashtami rituals that are based on the tales related to the birth of the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The rituals include the symbolic portrayal of the birth of Srikrishna enacted at the eastern gate of the temple in the presence of Pujapanda sevayats. A golden idol of Lord Krishna will grace the southern chamber of the temple to mark the day.
