Speeding Car rams Into Kanwariya Group in Cuttack Dist; Woman Killed, 2 Critical

Cuttack: A woman died and two others were seriously injured when a speeding car rammed into a group of Kanwariyas at Salepur’s Nischintakoili in Cuttack district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Chinmayee Behera of Jinhipur. The injured, Dipti Ranjan Rout and Purna Chandra Behera have been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to reports, the speeding car hit a group of 37 Kanwariyas, who had collected Babujanga ghat at Nischintakoili and were was on their way to Siddheswar Mahadev temple shrine in Paikarapur.

After being hit by the speeding car, Chinmayee died on the spot.

After hitting the Kanwariyas, the car turned turtle and crashed to a pick-up van, eyewitnesses said.

The police have detained the driver of the car and have launched an investigation into the incident.
