‘Surya Tilak’ Illuminates Ram Lalla’s Forehead in Ayodhya on Ram Navami

Ayodhya: In a mark of science joining hands with faith, ‘Surya Tilak’ (Sun’s rays) illuminated Lord Ram Lalla idol’s forehead at noon at the Ayodhya Temple on the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday.

This unique ‘Surya tilak’ of the deity was made possible by an elaborate mechanism involving mirrors and lenses. As part of the Surya Tilak project, sunlight was focused as a ’tilak’ on the forehead of the Shri Ram Lalla idol. This would be done on every Shri Ram Navami day. This project was taken up by the CSIR-CBRI Roorkee.

There was a huge rush of devotees in Ayodhya on the occasion of Ram Navami. The Ayodhya Ram temple doors were opened for pilgrims at 3:30 am on Wednesday. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust extended the darshan period for the day. The trust stopped special darshan on Ram Navami and the passes issued earlier were cancelled.

The Shringaar Aarti of Ram Lalla took place at 5 am. The darshan of the deity will continue till 11 pm. After this, there will be Bhog and Shayan Aarti as per the routine.
