Two 4-Year-Olds Sexually Assaulted At Thane School, Protestors Pelt Stones At Cops

Mumbai: Two girls aged only four years were sexually assaulted at an English medium school in Maharashtra’s Thane. The accused was a cleaning staff of the school.

The inhabitants of the area blocked the Mumbai rail route at Badalpur railway station on Tuesday to protest against the ghastly incident. Because of this agitation, the train services on the route were stalled.

The protesters are reported to have pelted stones at cops as they fled across the railway tracks.

A 23-year-old male cleaning staff allegedly sexually assaulted the two four-year-old girls inside the girls’ toilet at the school on August 16. The accused has been arrested.

The school administration has suspended the principal and dismissed the class teacher and the concerned nanny.  The angry protestors want an official apology or assurance from the school management.

Investigations by the police have revealed that there were no female attendants present in the girls’ toilets, a basic safety requirement in any educational setting for children of tender age. Many of the school’s CCTV cameras were found to be non-functional.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. He has also ordered the Thane Police Commissioner to submit a proposal on Tuesday to take the case to a fastrack court.
