Vigilance Officials Seize Rs 24.24 lakh Cash from Talcher Traffic Inspector

Bhubaneswar: The officials of the Odisha Vigilance Department intercepted, traffic inspector, Talcher, Jitendra Kumar Behera at Trinath Bazaar, Balianta, near Bhubaneswar and seized cash worth Rs 11.15 lakh from his car on Thursday night.

According to a release from the vigilance department, as the traffic inspector failed to provide a satisfactory account for the seized cash, search operations were carried out at his rented house at Talcher in Angul district and his house at Astarang in Puri district to unearth disproportionate assets.

The raids have led to the discovery of another Rs 3.09 lakh in cash and 336 gm gold at his Talcher residence. From his Astarang house, another Rs 10 lakh was recovered taking the total cash seizure to Rs 24.24 lakh.

According to the release, search operations are also continuing at the house of his brother in Paradip.
